Description
The Purdue Extension service for Elkhart County has 6 Extension Educator positions and 5 support staff. The primary responsibility of a summer intern would be to assist the 4-H Youth Development Educators in the administration of the 4-H program.
Responsibilities
Duties would include:
- Develop STEM-focused program or other subject area interest program for volunteers to teach 4-H Youth participants.
- Assist with pre-fair 4-H program preparation: 4-H judging and the set up and tear down of displays at the fair.
- Create marketing and social media content for Purdue Extension Elkhart County.
- Assist with post fair 4-H activities, including record keeping, and inventories.
- Assist with 4-H Livestock auction.
- Assist with general office duties related to 4-H, including news releases, copying, correspondence, filing, assisting other office staff with mailing, copying and other general office duties.
- Work with 4-H leaders as needed to help them with their respective duties.
- Work with educators in program development and teaching of summer healthy living educational programs.
- Other duties may be assigned by the County Extension Director or Office Coordinator as needed.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent, and be a full time college student qualified for EARN Indiana funding.
- Candidates with some knowledge of 4-H and or the Extension Service is preferred.
- Candidate must be able to communicate well, be highly organized, detail oriented, able to accept direction from others, and enjoy working with diverse groups of people.
- Computer skills with Microsoft Office software strongly preferred.
