Description

The Family Support Intern will support the INSPIRE team to ensure LCFS is able to effectively serve families in the INSPIRE program using the 2Gen Model.  The role includes: assisting with client engagement; obtaining client consent for services, completing client intakes; assisting with workshops and/or training opportunities to promote client engagement and success; connecting clients to community resources; and documenting client services to ensure LCFS is able to track client metrics in accordance with UWCI and other funder expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with client recruitment activities at the Sharing Place and through community partners/events to identify potential INSPIRE program participants
  • Meet with potential clients to obtain consent for program participation; complete intakes for clients who have completed the consent process
  • Support INSPIRE clients with opportunities for adjunct services that promote 2 Gen outcomes, including but not limited to the following:
    • Assist with on-site (and/or virtual) Nutrition classes to promote healthy cooking and enhanced knowledge of nutrition and healthy food choices
    • Assist with on-site (and/or virtual) resources/workshops periodically (possible topics may include but are not limited to: Health Insurance enrollment, Finance/Budgeting workshops, Legal Aid, etc.)
    • Ensure all client service activity documentation is completed in a timely manner in accordance with funding source requirements
  • Attend meetings with community organizations to enhance program operations, including but not limited to:
    • INSPIRE program collaborative partner meeting
    • Meetings with potential new resource partners as needed
  • Work with Client Engagement and Community Programs Interns on INSPIRE program activities as directed by the Client Engagement and Community Programs Manager

Qualifications

  • HS Diploma or equivalency required
  • Documentation of eligibility to work in the United States required (I-9 form documents) required
  • Valid Indiana Driver’s License
  • Clean driving record required to operate LCFS vehicles
  • Must pass background check and adhere to all LCFS Employee Policies and Procedures, including requirement to maintain a drug-free workplace
  • Demonstrate professional demeanor, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel & Outlook
  • English language skills for both verbal and written communications in a business setting
  • Preference for candidates that are bilingual (Spanish) and fluent with verbal and written communication in Spanish
