Description
The 4-H Website/Auction Assistant position at Purdue Extension -Ripley County is a full time summer internship. This internship offers a multi-faceted learning experience through preparation and execution of the 4-H animal program and Ripley County Fair Auction. This position works directly with the Office Manager, the Extension Educators, 4-H Volunteers and 4-H members. Several projects and responsibilities performed will provide key training and learning in Website Design, Social Media, Public Relations, Customer Service, Privacy Issue Related Regulations, Organization, Time Management, Team Building, Decision making, Desktop Publishing and Program Design. If time allows, this position may also work directly with the Extension Educator to organize and carry out programs in other Purdue extension areas of HHS and ANR. Duties for this position

Duties for this position include but are not limited to the following:
- Create and maintain a Fair Website to be used to inform
public of fair events and winners during fair week - Update the summer website calendar for all events being held
- Create and maintain a system for all database records, paper
files, and any projects needed for all animal projects. Animal Projects are Horse & Pony, Beef, Dairy, Dairy Feeder Bucket Calf, Swine, Sheep, Dairy Goat, Meat Goat, Pygmy Goat, Rabbit, Poultry, Dog and Cat - Work independently with each Animal Project Superintendent
to perform a needs analysis for each specie. Create and design an animal binder and a hand-out program for each show. This position is the key contact for all Animal Project Leaders and Superintendents prior to and during fair week. - Create and maintain a system for implementing, tracking, and
calculating the entire animal pen reservations segment of fair week. - Work independently with outsourced-auction accounts manager
to prepare and export auction data and co-write the auction program. Coordinate the assembly group and oversee
completion of 600 copies of this program booklet in a fast paced environment. - Finalize the financial reports, deposits, and Accounts Still
Owing after the auction and work with the Educator to process and distribute all member auction checks. - Assist in communication to all 4-H Members and Families to
answer questions regarding project clarification and fair week questions. - Assist Project Assistant Intern in setting up trophies for Awards Program
- Possibly staff the Animal Check-in table at the Fair
Qualifications
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. Publisher knowledge preferred
- Website Design knowledge helpful
- Be able to work independently or on a team
- Some customer service experience preferred
- Must be dependable and able to work some Saturdays
- Prior 4-H experience preferred
- Must be EARN eligible
