Description
The purpose of the internship will be to provide a broad training experience outlining the Library’s mission and its impact on the community and the associated finance and budgetary practices/procedures that support these efforts.
Specific accounting and finance focused training, tasks and special projects will provide practical and real life experience with fund accounting processes such as accounts payables, bank reconciliations, general ledgers, budgeting, and reporting processes.

- Observe and perform basic to intermediate accounting functions and tasks
- Prepare spreadsheets with data interpretation, reconciliation and review
- Assist in the creation, distribution, and presentation of financial reports
- Observe and learn the Purchase Order process, matching PO to invoices and verifying General Ledger accounts
- Access the financial software and observe invoicing process, check creation and proper storage/retention of paid invoices
- Assist in strategizing and implementing streamlined processes between the financial software and procurement and payroll software
Qualifications
Qualifications
- Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration Majors Preferred
Working knowledge of basic accounting principles
- Adept in mathematics as it applies to accounting.
- Ability to interpret, analyze, and record data and fiscal information.
- Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to learn reporting procedures.
- Advanced knowledge and skill in Microsoft Excel and Word
