Marketing and Communications Internship

Description

Learn nonprofit management and community leadership skills by assisting chamber staff members with the organization’s outreach and communication to the public and members. 

Responsibilities

Principle Responsibilities:

• Perform administrative and office support activities of chamber:  field calls, filing, copying and preparing for meetings
• Use templates to create media for social media and web-based distribution
• Write copy for website and social media
• Work with the staff team to achieve the chamber’s goals
• Assume responsibility for projects as assigned

Public Awareness:

• Assist with website updates
• Implement and manage social media programs
• Strategize with and educate the chamber staff and volunteers on incorporating relevant social media techniques into chamber culture, products and services
• Measure impact of social media on all marketing efforts
• Assist with media outreach
• Write, design and produce Chamber newsletter

Services to members and partners:

• Provide support for designing, organizing, and maintaining the chamber’s print and electronic materials to make them readily available to members, chamber staff and other community partners
• Other tasks as assigned by Executive Director

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have completed courses in marketing, social media, digital media, or other relevant subject with:

• An interest in learning nonprofit management and community leadership skills
• Exemplary spreadsheet and/or desktop publishing skills
• Experience working with social media tools and techniques
• Strong work ethic – punctual, dependable, prepared
• Must be an EARN Indiana qualified applicant
