Training Description:

This comprehensive 3-hour virtual training equips industry partners with the knowledge, tools, and strategies needed to design, implement, and continuously improve high-quality work-based learning (WBL) programs. Participants will explore the full lifecycle of WBL from understanding foundational elements and employer roles to intentionally designing meaningful learning experiences and evaluating program impact.

Ideal for both new and experienced partners, this session blends practical guidance with actionable frameworks to help organizations build structured, compliant, and engaging WBL opportunities that support learner success and strengthen talent pipelines. By the end of the training, participants will be prepared to create impactful WBL experiences that align with career pathways and meet workforce needs.

Learning Objectives:

By the end of this training, participants will be able to:

  1. Understand different types and purposes of WBL (e.g., job shadowing, internships, apprenticeships)
  2. Define the key components of high-quality WBL programs
  3. Identify the employer’s role in education-to-career pathways
  4. Design structured and intentional WBL experiences aligned to learning objectives
  5. Effectively onboard, mentor, and support learners
  6. Evaluate learner performance and overall program effectiveness
  7. Use feedback and data to improve future WBL experiences and strengthen talent pipelines

Suggested 3-Hour Agenda:

  1. Hour 1: Foundations of High-Quality WBL
  2. Hour 2: Designing Meaningful Learning Experiences
  3. Hour 3: Evaluation, Feedback, and Continuous Improvement

Participants are eligible for continued education credits. A badge will be issued by the Indiana Chamber and Institute recognizing the participant’s learning, should the participant pass the end of training assessment.
