Description

Provide therapeutic intervention to individuals served in a facility, community or home-based setting.

  • Under the supervision of professional staff the interns will perform a range of on-going activities and assigned task at Camp Red Cedar– according to the facility standards as well as State and Federal regulations.
  • Provide entry-level professional support services in a specialty field, as appropriate to the day-to-day operating objectives.
  • Assists in the planning and implementation of assigned projects; participates in projects and programs designed to develop professional skills and expertise appropriate to the needs of the organization.
  • Uses acquired knowledge and skill to carry out and complete project activities.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

 

Responsibilities

Interns will be available for the following areas of responsibility: 

  1. Able to maintain billable criteria.
  2. Provide education to caregivers
  3. Maintain CPR/First Aid Certification
  4. Comply with all standards to assure the health and safety of clients we serve.
  5. Must report any suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation to supervisor or department head.
  6. Implement community and facility based, age appropriate, recreational activities
  7. Completes documentation as required by state and federal regulations
  8. Collect data to document progress of prioritized objectives for each client
  9. Develop and implement recreation therapy strategies based on target objectives and goals
  10. Complies with and implements all protocols for individuals including but not limited to: high risk plans, dining plans, seizure management plans, positioning schedules, etc.
  11. Participate in Person Centered Individual Support Plan for client served
  12. Attend departmental meetings
  13. Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Qualifications

Education:

Currently enrolled in a qualified degree program with Recreational Therapy

Licensure/Certification:

Current valid driver’s license

CPR and/or First Aid (if applicable)

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Stand, walk, kneel and reach while working with clients for approximately 80-90% of the day. Use the full range of body motion. Perform First Aid and CPR. May require physical exertion for recreational activities.
