2024 Construction Estimating Intern

Description

The position is responsible for assisting an Estimator with timely preparation of assigned construction estimates with integrity of performance, professionalism and consistent with estimates objectives which, achieves established ratio of volume awarded to bid volume and attains awarded projects within contract quotes.

This position is responsible for any of the assigned estimating functions which may include:  quantity take-offs, material and labor pricing, review of Instructions to Bidders and specifications, bid summary, preparation of bid documents and/or bid proposal write-up, as well as assists in project estimates within time constraints, completely, accurately and consistent with department standard operating procedures.

Responsibilities

Some Responisibilities Include:

1.1       Assists with reviews, analysis, and interpretation of  bid documents to determine scope of work and quantifies through the computer, the estimating approach and bid strategy in a manner that maximizes profits through the attainment of awarded projects within contract quotes.

1.2       Assists with calculations and prepares complete quantity take-offs, material price lists, labor costs per man-hour, equipment, and other required statistical data to achieve established ratio of volume awarded to bid volume.

1.3       Assists with proposals for review and approval by the Vice President of Operations or in a manner that awarded projects are attained within contract quotes.

1.4       Assists with jobsite inspections (weekly/monthly) to identify estimating irregularities, assesses current construction progress conformity with estimating plans and ensures that future estimates align with project installation requirements.

Qualifications

Pursuit of a college degree or industry specific experience.
