Envelop Group's internship program offers a combination of mentoring, learning activities, and field work designed to give broad exposure to the inner workings of building technology solutions. This paid internship is located in Indianapolis, IN with flexible start and end dates from May to August 2024. Interns must be available to work up to 40 hours per week, for at least 10 weeks.

What you'll do as a Design Engineer Intern:

  • Partner with the Sales Team in conducting needs assessment of potential customers with many different technologies including but not limited to: A/V, Security, Network Electronics, Structured Cable and Fiber Plant, Telephony and WiFi
  • Partners with the sales team to develop a scope of work and supporting documentation, to include conceptual solution options, diagrams, workflow, etc. to support a compelling winning solution
  • Assist with product submittals.
  • Assist in the preparation of engineering calculations, specifications, and designs.
  • Work on a variety of tasks associated with project reporting, such as tracking and evaluating project activities, project progress, and associated data.
  • Prepare project drawings, specifications and schematics to support the installation of low-voltage systems.
  • Shadow installation and project team in the field.
  • Work alongside sales to understand process beginning to end.
  • Conduct research on industry trends, technologies, and materials to support design efforts.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Engineering or related technical field with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A growth mindset focused on continual learning and improvement.
  • Local candidates are preferred. No relocation or housing stipend will be offered for this position.
  • Must have valid US work authorization and must not require sponsorship for an employment visa by Envelop Group at any time in the future.
  • Travel to customer job sites is required, which may include outdoor work and/or work in mechanical/equipment rooms. During site visits, the employee may be exposed to variable weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, heights, and other variable environmental conditions.
