Envelop Group's internship program offers a combination of mentoring, learning activities, and field work designed to give broad exposure to the inner workings of building technology solutions. As a Design Engineering Intern, you will help layout solutions to meet the unique needs of our customers. This paid internship is located in Indianapolis, IN with flexible start and end dates from May to August 2025. Interns must be available to work up to 40 hours per week, for at least 10 weeks.

What you'll do as a Design Engineer Intern:

  • Collaborate with the Sales team to assess the needs of potential customers across various technologies, including audio visual, security, network electronics, and access controls.
  • Work with the sales team to develop detailed scopes of work and supporting documentation, such as conceptual solutions, diagrams, and workflows, to create compelling proposals.
  • Assist in preparing product submittals.
  • Contribute to the preparation of engineering calculations, specifications, and designs.
  • Handle various tasks related to project reporting, including tracking project activities, progress, and relevant data.
  • Create project drawings, specifications, and schematics to support the installation of low-voltage systems.
  • Shadow installation and project teams in the field to gain hands-on experience.
  • Conduct research on industry trends, technologies, and materials to support design initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
  • Familiarity with design and modeling software (e.g., CAD tools, simulation software).
  • Understanding of systems engineering principles and methodologies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A growth mindset dedicated to continuous learning and improvement.
  • Preference will be given to local candidates; no relocation or housing stipend is available this position.
  • Must possess US work authorization and not require sponsorship for an employment visa by Envelop Group at any time in the future.
  • Willingness to travel to customer job sites, which may involve outdoor work and environments such as mechanical or equipment rooms. Site visits may expose the employee to varying weather conditions, moving machinery, heights, and other environmental factors.
