Database and Software College Intern
Description
The Database/Software Intern will participate in a Work-Based Learning (WBL) experience in partnership with the Chamber, local schools, and area employers. The intern will assist Chamber staff in building and implementing a new database system from the ground up. This position is designed to provide real-world experience and professional development while supporting the Chamber’s mission. Learning outcomes will be established at the beginning of the internship with the Director of Employer Engagement, Marketing Coordinator and the intern. The intern will gain valuable technical skills, business knowledge, and transferable professional experience in database development and software management.
Responsibilities
-Assist in planning, designing, and building a database system from scratch to track intern opportunities.
-Work with Chamber staff and partner employers to identify key data needs, workflows, and reporting requirements.
-Create and maintain database components including fields, forms, tables, queries, and reports to support operations and planning.
-Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and security through validation rules and best practices.
-Provide ongoing support, troubleshooting, and training for staff database use.
Qualifications
-Currently enrolled in a college program in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field.
-Strong interest in database design, development, and software systems.
-Familiarity with database platforms such as Microsoft Access, SQL, MySQL, Airtable, or similar.
-Basic understanding of data structures, relational databases, and data modeling.
-Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with attention to detail.
-Effective professional communication skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
