Description

The primary role of the Fitness Consultant position is to provide proactive customer service on the fitness floor. Duties include assisting patrons with appropriate usage of strength and cardiovascular equipment, providing equipment orientations, assisting patrons with spotting, and providing oversight in the fitness neighborhoods. The goal of this position is to give students valuable real-world experience in a fitness environment. This position should work 4-10 hours per week during the current semester. Those hours may be worked in any combination, at the discretion of the direct supervisorThe Fitness Consultant position must be reliable, organized, responsible, and flexible. They must also be ambitious, detail-oriented, creative, and driven 

Responsibilities

 

Provide proactive customer service on the fitness floor to ensure a positive member experience 

Assist patrons with proper use of strength and cardiovascular equipment, including leading equipment orientations 

Support safe exercise practices through spotting and guidance 

Monitor fitness areas to maintain safety, organization, and adherence to facility policies

Maintain cleanliness and perform routine upkeep of equipment and supplies

Adhere to all safety and risk management procedures, including emergency response protocols

Demonstrate reliability, organization, and accountability for scheduled shifts

Exhibit professionalism, confidentiality, and effective communication with patrons and staff

Maintain flexibility and a strong work ethic in a dynamic environment

Participate in staff meetings and contribute to team and departmental initiative

Represent the department by providing feedback and engaging in continuous improvement efforts

Qualifications

Must be able to lift and carry 45lbs for short distances
