Description
The Steuben County Economic Development Corporation (SCEDC) is offering a unique internship opportunity for a student interested in workforce development, data analytics, and economic forecasting. The internship will focus on the early stages of the Skills Forecasting and Bridging Initiative (SFBI), which aims to forecast skill demands in Steuben County and address workforce gaps through targeted training programs.
Responsibilities
- Data Collection: Assist in gathering and organizing labor market information, local business surveys, and economic forecasts.
- Analysis Support: Help analyze industry trends and identify emerging skills using predictive analytics and trend analysis.
- Tool Development Assistance: Contribute to the development of the skills forecasting tool by supporting research and testing.
- Reporting: Assist in creating reports and dashboards to communicate findings to local stakeholders, businesses, and educational institutions.
- Collaboration: Work with SCEDC staff and local partners such as Trine University, local businesses, and community organizations to gather insights and ensure alignment with community needs.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a degree in economics, data science, business, public policy, or a related field.
- Strong research, data collection, and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel; knowledge of data analytics tools a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be available to work 20 hours per week between May and August 2025.
