Skilled Trade Internship
Description
Nix Industrial is a diversified metal solutions provider headquartered in Poseyville, Indiana. As a fifth-generation, family-owned company, we specialize in supporting industrial operations through fabrication, machining, coatings, and maintenance services. Our team works across multiple locations and divisions, combining strong values with a “Be Big, Act Small” mindset.
Our internship program is designed to give students hands-on exposure to real-world operations within the skilled trades. Interns are placed into a working environment where they contribute to day-to-day activities while exploring different areas of the business to better understand potential career paths.
Each intern is paired with an experienced supervisor or mentor who provides daily guidance, task instruction, and ongoing feedback. Interns receive structured onboarding, safety training, and continuous coaching throughout the program. They will also have opportunities to interact with team members across departments to gain a broader understanding of operations.
Learning goals for the internship include:
- Developing an understanding of workplace expectations and professional behavior
- Gaining exposure to real production and operational workflows
- Building problem-solving and communication skills in a team environment
- Applying classroom knowledge in a hands-on setting
- Exploring different career paths within the skilled trades to identify areas of interest
