Description
The Bremen Public Library is seeking an enthusiastic, community-minded college student to join our team as a Library Intern.
This unique position offers the opportunity to work with the public alongside a team of experienced library staff. As an intern you will serve patrons as they use library resources; support our various programs; and hone skills needed for the job market.
Responsibilities
- Support the Adult and Children’s Departments with patron services, circulation procedures, and materials handling
- Provide program support, which may include assisting with a patron group activity; creating flyers, crafts, or materials; Logging/tracking patron data for library statistics
- Lead a unique project that reflects your education and career goals
- Participate in community events, such as the Firefighter’s Festival and Parade
- Work approximately 15 hours per week in a paid position
Qualifications
- A passion for serving others in a public setting
- Effective professional written and verbal communication, including in-person conversations, phone calls, and agency emails
- Ability to plan, organize, and implement daily job details and activities
- Familiarity with computers and capability to learn new software/systems
- Flexible schedule including working days, nights, and Saturdays
