Accounting Intern
Description
The Accounting Intern will work directly with the Controller, who will serve as the intern’s primary supervisor, and the Financial Analyst, who will serve as the intern’s mentor. The intern will receive hands-on training in areas such as accounts payable and receivable, account reconciliations, general ledger activity, month-end close procedures, financial reporting, budgeting, and data analysis.
Training will be provided through direct instruction, observation, and progressively independent assignments as the intern demonstrates proficiency. The Controller will oversee the intern’s work, responsibilities, and overall development, while the Financial Analyst will provide day-to-day mentorship, guidance, and support. The intern will also have opportunities to work with other members of the Finance team and company leadership to gain broader exposure to accounting and financial decision-making within a manufacturing environment.
The intern will receive ongoing feedback along with formal midpoint and final evaluations to assess performance, progress toward learning objectives, and areas for continued professional development.
Learning goals for the internship include developing a practical understanding of the accounting cycle, strengthening financial analysis and Excel skills, gaining experience with budgeting and financial reporting, understanding the month-end close process, and learning how financial information is used to support business decisions. The intern will also develop professional skills including communication, time management, attention to detail, problem-solving, and working effectively as part of a finance team.
Progress toward these learning goals will be supported through ongoing feedback and formal midpoint and final evaluations. These evaluations will assess the intern’s performance, development, progress toward established learning objectives, and areas for continued professional growth.
