Human Resources Intern
Description
The HR Intern will work directly with the HR Generalist, who will serve as the intern’s primary supervisor and mentor. The intern will receive hands-on training in areas such as recruiting, onboarding, employee records, HR documentation, benefits administration, employee engagement, compliance, and other day-to-day human resources functions.
Training will be provided through direct instruction, observation, participation in active HR processes, and progressively independent assignments as the intern demonstrates proficiency. The HR Generalist will provide day-to-day guidance, review the intern’s work, answer questions, and provide ongoing coaching and feedback. The intern will also have opportunities to work with department managers and company leadership to gain an understanding of how Human Resources supports employees and the broader organization.
Learning goals include developing a practical understanding of the employee lifecycle, gaining experience with recruiting and onboarding processes, learning appropriate handling of confidential employee information, understanding HR policies and employment-related compliance, and developing familiarity with benefits and employee engagement activities. The intern will also develop professional skills including communication, organization, time management, problem-solving, professionalism, discretion, and the ability to work effectively with employees at different levels of the organization.
Progress toward these learning goals will be supported through ongoing feedback and formal midpoint and final evaluations to assess performance, development, and progress toward established learning objectives.
