Description

The IT Intern will work directly with the IT Process Engineer, who will serve as the intern’s primary supervisor and mentor. The intern will receive hands-on training in areas such as hardware and software support, user account administration, networking, cybersecurity, system maintenance, troubleshooting, and IT documentation.


Training will be provided through direct instruction, observation, participation in active IT projects, and progressively independent assignments as the intern demonstrates proficiency. The intern will handle employee support requests, troubleshoot hardware and software issues, configure and deploy equipment, maintain IT documentation, and participate in technology projects throughout the organization. The IT Process Engineer will provide day-to-day guidance, review work, and gradually increase the intern’s responsibility as their technical knowledge and problem-solving abilities develop.


Learning goals include developing practical troubleshooting and technical support skills, gaining experience with business IT systems and network environments, understanding user and device administration, developing an understanding of cybersecurity practices, and learning how technology supports day-to-day business and manufacturing operations. The intern will also develop professional skills including communication, prioritization, documentation, problem-solving, customer service, and the ability to independently manage assigned tasks and projects.


Progress toward these learning goals will be supported through ongoing coaching and feedback, along with formal midpoint and final evaluations to assess performance, development, and progress toward established learning objectives.

Responsibilities

  1. Provide technical support for computer hardware, software, printers, mobile devices, and other technology resources.
  2. Assist with the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of hardware and software.
  3. Support user account administration, password resets, and system access requests.
  4. Help maintain network, computer, and peripheral equipment inventory.
  5. Assist with ERP system support and other business applications.
  6. Support security initiatives by following security best practices and assisting with routine monitoring activities.
  7. Assist with system updates, software deployments, and technology upgrades.
  8. Create and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and user guides.
  9. Respond to employee technology support requests in a professional and timely manner.
  10. Participate in technology improvement initiatives and special projects.
  11. Collaborate with employees across multiple departments to support business operations.
  12. Perform other duties and projects as assigned.


Qualifications

  1. Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or a related field.
  2. Basic understanding of computer hardware, software, operating systems, and networking concepts.
  3. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  4. Ability to learn new technologies, systems, and software quickly.
  5. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  6. Ability to communicate technical information clearly to employees with varying levels of technical knowledge.
  7. Strong customer-service skills and willingness to work directly with employees to resolve technology issues.
  8. Ability to manage multiple priorities and follow assigned tasks through to completion.
  9. Ability to handle confidential and sensitive company information with professionalism and discretion.
  10. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaborate with others.
  11. Willingness to take initiative and assume increasing responsibility throughout the internship.
  12. Previous IT, technical support, or related experience is preferred but not required.
