This training is designed for industry partners who are committed to delivering impactful work-based learning (WBL) experiences. This foundational course explores the core elements that define high-quality WBL and provides participants with the tools, strategies, and frameworks needed to build, implement, and sustain successful programs. Whether you're new to WBL or seeking to strengthen existing efforts, this session provides a solid foundation for developing programs that prepare employers for success.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the types and purposes of WBL (job shadowing, internships, apprenticeships, etc.)
  • Define high-quality WBL components (structural, currency based, competency based, etc.)
  • Learn the employer’s role in education-to-career pathways

Topics Covered:

  • Benefits to employers and learners
  • Legal and compliance basics (FLSA, minor labor laws, liability, company policy, safety)
  • Access to WBL
  • Developing clear learning objectives aligned with career pathways
