Description

Our organization is a public library and have utilized interns in the past to work on several various sized projects that are often outside of the day to day jobs of a regular library clerk.  The intern works directly with the Library Director for training and mentorship, but also will work with other library employees when appropriate in order to maximize their skill development and our teamwork philosophies.  As an organization that runs with very few people, we will have our intern working on several projects that affect many aspects of the library. Our learning goals for the intern include developing a stronger understanding of what a full inventory of equipment is including where to find and how to mark with identifying information.  Introductory facility management, website maintenance, spreadsheets, and scanning documents in order to send them for microfilming will also be goals for this intern. Providing time permits, this intern will also have goals for learning our marketing software, Canva by helping to redesign and market a program for the libraries youngest customers.

Responsibilities

Scanning the historical minutes of the library and then manipulating them in Adobe in order to have clear images, as well as OCR searchable files that are then ready to send to the state archives in order to have them microfilmed.

Update master indexes of all policies in order to improve access to the most current policies and create a new index of expired policies.

Scanning family histories, and creating OCR searchable PDF scans in order to have easier searching access in our genealogy room.
