How We Carry Out Our Mission: The Community Foundation connects people who care with causes that matter. We have one primary purpose: to receive charitable contributions and invest and manage them as a permanent endowment according to the charitable intentions of our donors and enriching the quality of life in Owen County.

Internships: The Community Foundation offers (2) paid summer internships for area college students. Working closely with the Community Foundation staff, our interns become an extension of the staff. 

Public Relations and Marketing Internship: This intern will assist with writing media releases, social media posts, and photography documenting the Community Foundation's funds, donors, grants, and activities. This intern will also be a part of the planning committee for our golf outing fundraiser, the Jim Fulford Open. This position requires good interviewing and writing skills, photography and videography experience is beneficial. 

Our interns typically work 30-40 hours per week, and we negotiate that with each intern. These work hours generally take place Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., except for special events. 

Responsibilities

Create calendar & schedule of social media posts utilizing the analytics we have cultivated.

Create and deploy social media posts.

Take photos and video at onsite visits to grant-recipient organizations. Capture interviews and tell a compelling story of the benefit and local impact of the Community Foundation.

Work with the Jim Fulford Open (JFO) Committee to plan the golf outing fundraiser.

Represent the Community Foundation at local events as needed.

Other projects/tasks as requested by the Director of Programs & Communication or the CEO.

Qualifications

A college student enrolled in an Indiana institution pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree.

Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to follow instructions, proof your own work, and be a self-starter who likes to keep busy. 

Desire to be a team player. 

Knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe InDesign, Canva, website development, and social media outlets. Must possess the ability to adapt to new technology.
