Description

About Open Control Systems (OCS): OCS integrates modern automation systems into new or existing structures to achieve the most efficient, environmentally balanced and cost-effective facilities possible. We also provide installations that control, monitor and analyze the performance of these processes using sophisticated and interactive technology.

The Controls Engineer Intern will learn about advanced technical duties associated with the installation of various types of HVAC control systems. This role is based in Indianapolis.

Education and Experience:

  • Currently enrolled in a 4-year engineering program and maintain a minimum college GPA requirement of 2.90 on a 4.00 scale; cumulative, no rounding
  • Experience is a plus but not necessary

General

  • Provide regular feedback to your supervisor on your progress, development, and job satisfaction

Engineering

  • Work with the controls engineers to understand the following areas:
    • Custom hardware design for most HVAC control systems
    • Graphical User Interface for HVAC control systems
    • Configurable and custom software programming for HVAC control systems
    • Generate project submittals and IOM manuals
    • Assist with the development of templates for engineering tools
    • Loading, device verification, and commissioning of system controllers
    • Project commissioning documentation

Training:

  • Responsible for jointly planning annual development and training plan with supervisor
  • Participate in all safety trainings offered as part of the OCS safety program and exhibits exemplary safe working behaviors
  • Participate in regular formal training when applicable
  • Provide regular feedback to your supervisor on your progress, development, and job satisfaction

Knowledge:

  • Requires critical thinking skills, excellent problem solving skills, self-motivation, decisive judgment and excellent customer service skills
  • Mechanical and / or electrical aptitude skills are a must

Other Requirements:

  • Valid driver's license and evidence of insurability
  • This is a physical / construction type of position. It will require but not be limited to standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, and crawling. This position will also require being up on ladders and
  • Full Time, 40 Hours / week. Daily travel to job sites, generally in the state of Indiana (but not limited to).
  • May be required to satisfy other requirements imposed by specific projects, customers, or company needs, including to be vaccinated for the flu and/or Covid-19 and similar, subject to all applicable laws
  • 40 Hours / week. Daily travel to job sites, generally in the state of Indiana (but not limited to).
