Job Summary
As a member of the deal team, you will play a pivotal role in assessing the financial merits of diverse investment opportunities with a focus on Wealth Management, Insurance, Professional Services and other adjacent financial services verticals. Your responsibilities will encompass financial analysis and modeling, industry research and active involvement in all aspects of the deal lifecycle. Your contributions will aid in shaping our strategic investments and driving our continued success as we deploy our principal capital in private equity transactions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Compile listings of potential investment targets in sectors of focus, along with relevant information that can later be used for direct outreach
- Conduct market research in furtherance of various existing and contemplated investment theses
- Draft presentations summarizing results of internal financial analyses and research findings for presentation to internal stakeholders
- Assist the Senior Associate with building financial models to estimate the value of potential acquisitions, minority and majority equity investments, and strategic partnerships
- Develop comparable company and precedent transaction analyses to estimate the value of potential acquisitions, minority and majority equity investments, and strategic partnerships
- Maintain internal systems used for sourcing and tracking investment opportunities
- Conduct various ad-hoc projects related to live deals, portfolio companies and internal operations on an as needed basis
- Interpret and articulate, in writing and orally, relevant findings from research and analysis
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills along with outstanding attention to detail
- Ability to self-motivate while effectively managing numerous projects and priorities
- Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills including use of advanced functions, data management, advanced charting, and ability to create highly professional presentations
- Existing knowledge of, or desire to learn, tools and software used for sourcing, evaluating, and executing transactions
- Ability to work effectively under pressure with tight deadlines
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job
- Interest in direct investing and financial services as an investment vertical
Minimum Qualifications
- Rising Junior or Senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field, or current MBA student
- Previous internship experience in a relevant role, such as financial planning & analysis, credit analysis, investment banking, corporate development, transaction advisory services or private equity, is preferred
This role will be full-time hours, working 8-5p M-F with some flexibility. Internship will ideally start in January 2024. Rate of pay is $18/hour.
