They are held to the same required qualifications as the Cabin Leader while undertaking a leadership role as a mentor, educator and trainer. The role provides opportunities for additional development and responsibilities serving on the Education Leadership team.

Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Perform all responsibilities of the Cabin Leader
- Serve as a peer mentor for interns; observing, consulting, and supporting them on a regular basis
- Act as an intermediary to facilitate communication between interns and the leadership team
- Assist with facilitating program staff training
- Collaborate with the leadership team to enhance programs
- Manage the maintenance of program space and living facilities on campus
- Facilitate weekly Cabin Leader planning meetings
- Appointed lead personnel during overnight hours
- Actively participate to support fundraising efforts
- Comply with all Dunes Learning Center policies and represent DLC in a professional manner at all times
- Perform all assigned duties critical to the operation of the Dunes Learning Center
- Assist with other duties as assigned
Qualifications
REQUIRED
โ Must be at least 18 years old
โ Enrolled in an Associate or BA/BS academic program for the 2024-2025 school year
โ Successfully completed 1 summer as a Cabin Leader for Dunes Learning Center
โ Enthusiastic about working with children in an outdoor setting
โ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
โ Commitment to equity and inclusion
โ Physically able to perform duties outdoors in all weather conditions
โ A willingness to be coached and to receive feedback
โ Ability to work independently as well as on a team
โ Official government identification
DESIRABLE
โ Prior experience in outdoor education, residential camp setting, nature centers, or day camps
โ Ability to speak Spanish
โ Participation in leadership programs at school/ in your community
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Cabin Leaders are required to regularly stand for long periods of time and be active and engaging with campers with hikes, games, and campfires. Cabin Leaders are responsible for campers overnight and must be able to respond to their needs at all hours of the night. Cabin Leaders must be able to verbally communicate and have visual abilities that allow them to deliver programs safely.
