Responsibilities

Job Summary

SABIC is looking for talented candidates to join the Technology Internship Program in Mount Vernon, IN for Summer 2024 assignments. Program participants will gain meaningful work experience and get a close look at possible careers in industrial R&D. Typical assignments include process technology development, lab polymer syntheses, new polymer resins/blends research and characterization of intermediates and final products.

 

To be successful in this role, you should have a scientific mindset that can be applied to real development activities, as well as strong presentation and written communication skills. You should also have the hands-on ability and a solid understanding of chemistry fundamentals and material science.

  • Collaborate with other team members on project assignments and gain technical experience under their guidance.
  • Translate complex technical data into useful knowledge to support decision making.
  • Document experimental results for internal technical reports, external publications, and presentations.
  • Apply scientific fundamentals to perform research, experimentation, analysis, and the interpretation of results.

  • Must work well in a team atmosphere.
  • Strong presentation and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite

Qualifications

The internship program runs from mid-May through mid-August. Prospective Candidates must be available to work during this timeframe. A competitive wage will be paid during this period and candidates will have opportunities to participate in internal workshops & seminars while learning about industrial research and development from senior professionals in the field of polymer development.

 

Eligibility Requirements

  • Sophomore through Senior level undergraduates with graduate school plans and current graduate students are preferred but others will be considered
  • Minimum GPA:  3.0/4.0
  • Candidates shall be students in one of the following fields of study:
    • Chemical Engineering
    • Materials/Polymer Engineering
    • Chemistry
    • Or related fields
  • You must submit your application for employment online to be considered. 
  • You must be 18 years or older.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work for SABIC in the United States on a full-time basis.
