Description

Ambassadors of Hope was established in 2017, providing caregivers with nurturing parenting skills to mitigate adverse childhood experiences.

 We are currently looking for an intern able to assist with our foster parent support group program, which is groups held l virtually and in person  in Hamilton and Hancock counties.

The selected candidate will be trained in the nurturing parenting curriculum and supervised by the program director. Those who are social workers can receive clinical supervision from a licensed clinical social worker

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate support groups for foster parents, providing a safe and supportive environment for sharing experiences and building connections.
  • Develop training materials and resources for foster parents, covering topics such as trauma-informed care, behavior management, and navigating the foster care system.
  • Lead parenting education classes focused on topics relevant to foster parents, including effective communication, positive discipline, and self-care.
  • Collaborate with the team to plan and execute virtual and in-person events for foster families and stakeholders.
  • Assist with administrative tasks as needed to support program operations and initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Passion for supporting foster families and improving outcomes for children in foster care
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Comfortable with virtual communication platforms and technology
  • Previous experience in social services, education, or related fields is a plus
