Position Overview:  

The Dometic Internship Program is a professional learning experience that offers meaningful, practical work related to a student’s field of study or career interest. Our program gives students the opportunity to collaborate with team members, to have a meaningful project that allows you to have impact, career exploration and development, to learn new skills, and get to know other interns.  

The Quality Assurance Intern is responsible to work with a cross-discipline team to plan, implement and continuously improve production quality systems including Test and Measurement Systems, Problem Solving, and Continuous Improvement Projects

Project Overview:

Quality Process Planning Strategy and Improvement-

  • Evaluate the current process of Kitting (manufacturing of SVC kits) at Dometic WHs and develop an efficient and effective quality planning process that increase the productivity and decrease the customer complaints, back-order situation
  • Warranty Analysis to improve product quality and to evaluate the current trends in field returns and take corrective action as needed to address design or manufacturing issues

Project Measurables:

  • Report Top 3 warranty drivers by cost and its critical failure modes identified during warranty analysis to segment quality and PD engineering for resolution
  • Complete set of process implemented at DCs for kitting

Anticipated output of Project:

  • Process Improvements whereby all quality processes at Dometic warehouses are created, documented and implemented
  • Reduce Warranty cost and Increase Product quality - identify top 3 warranty cost drivers (product family or failure modes) and root causes identified during warranty analysis activities. Report findings to Segment quality and PD engineering for the possible solutions

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate the current kitting process and develop an efficient and effective quality planning process that increase the productivity and decrease the customer complaints, back-order situation
  • Identify top 3 warranty cost drivers and emerging issues to see early warning indicators and identify root causes and engage the engineering team for the corrective actions & improvements
  • Assist in Return Goods Analysis and testing activities for warranty early warning system
  • Review the existing Product shipment scanning process for inboundoutbound, identify gaps and develop the action plan to implement the correct process
  • Assist in reviewing the PPAP documents for new product launches and engineering change requests
  • Assist in newly implemented Product Verification process
  • Develop Quality inspection (incoming & outgoing) audits using ANSI Z1.4-2003, Single Sampling Plan, Level S3 with AQL 1.0

Competencies gained:

  • Ability to analyze the Warranty issues using Quality tools like 8D, 5 Why etc.
  • Ability to review and understand PPAP documents and all the 18 elements as per AIAG guidelines

Qualifications

  • Actively enrolled in a college or university seeking a degree. The following programs are preferred: Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Business
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Experience with Failure Mode Analysis
  • Quality certifications (preferred)
  • Data analysis (preferred)
