Position Overview:  

The Dometic Internship Program is a professional learning experience that offers meaningful, practical work related to a student’s field of study or career interest. Our program gives students the opportunity to collaborate with team members, to have a meaningful project that allows you to have impact, career exploration and development, to learn new skills, and get to know other interns.  

The Product Design Test Engineer Intern is responsible for receiving, testing, analyzing and reporting results of tests assigned intended to characterize the performance for a product model family. 

Responsibilities

It is anticipated that a series of tests will be performed on a model family of compressor refrigerators.  It is desired to have these models characterized for:

• Customer experience
  1. Thermostat control
  2. Temperature uniformity
  3. Noise (start up, steady running)
  4. Ease of use
  5. Capacity
  6. Pull down time
  7. Rise time

• Power consumption
  1. Energy efficiency per Department of Energy, Natural Resources Canada, California Energy Commission guidelines, see AHAM HFR-1
  2. Inrush current and other transient effects characterized

• Effects of recreational vehicle use and other mobile use
  1. Vibrational tests to SAE standards
  2. Vibration tests to test track profiles
  3. Effects of fouling characterized

• Behavior (power consumption, customer experience) under the following variables:
  1. Full range of voltages
  2. Full range of ambient temperatures
  3. Full range of loading (0% to 100% filled with produce)

Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in a college or university seeking a degree. The following programs are preferred: Engineering
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize activities
• Highly organized with multiple ongoing projects
• Proficient with MS Excel and willing to learn new software/systems as introduced
• Teams, MS Office, PowerPoint, word, and excel experience/knowledge
