Description
Basic Functions and Scope of Responsibility
Led by the Wellness Coordinator, the Wellness Intern will assist with the development, coordination, and delivery of wellness programs and services that support healthy living for members and the community. This hands-on internship is designed to provide practical experience in health promotion, program management, and wellness education.

- Assist in the planning and implementation of wellness programs, workshops, and health initiatives.
- Conduct member engagement activities, such as wellness assessments, orientations, goal-setting sessions, and fitness floor interactions.
- Support wellness staff in developing educational content (handouts, flyers, social media posts, etc.) on topics such as nutrition, exercise, stress management, and health lifestyle habits.
- Help collect, track, and analyze participation data and program outcomes.
- Contribute to staff meetings, training sessions, and program evaluations.
- Serve as a positive role model for health and wellness within the organization.
Qualifications
Qualifications
- Pursuing a degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Health, Health Promotion, or a related field
- Passionate about health and wellness and eager to learn in a hands-on setting.
- Highly self-motivated and detail oriented. Ability to organize and prioritze projects efficiently with tight deadlines.
- Ability to lift 30 lbs. and stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time; occasionally stoop/bend.
- Maintain a neat and professional appearance at all times.
- Computer proficiency: Microsoft Word (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Creative, flexible, self-directed, problem solver with an attention to detail and strong communication skills.
- Ability to take and appy project feedback quickly.
- CPR and First Aid certifications within the first 30 days of employment
- Meet the YMCA's screening standards including background screening
- Complete YMCA New Employee Orientation
- Complete Y-USA Wellness Trainings as necessary
- Must be legally eligible to work in the US without current or future sponsorship
