Description
DCMH is a critical-access hospital. The internship program provides the student with hands-on experience within a Med Surg unit with a variety of patients. The internship provides an opportunity for the student to assist RN's, LPN's and Physicians with care of patients. The student will be supervised and trained by the current Med Surg staff including RN's, LPN's and Physicians. The student will report to the Director of Inpatient Nursing. The goals for the student is to perform the duties assigned using methods and procedures included in their certification curriculum along with following policies and procedures. Students must demonstate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care, appropriate to the age of patient assigned.
Responsibilities
Student will be primarily responsible for assisting RN's LPN's and Physicians with care of the patients, including but not limited to personal hygiene, mobility, and daily activities. All while helping maintain a clean and safe environment.
Qualifications
Must be currently and actively enrolled in a local high school participating with DCMH for work based learning opportunities. State Licenses as a CNA or obtain CNA within 3 months. Proficient in Microsoft Office, email and basic computer skills for other software used throughout the hospital. BLS required. Ability to multi-task, detail-oriented, personable, and strong communication skills.
