Medical Assistant Internship - Summer, Fall, or Spring

Description

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Medical Assistant Intern to join our healthcare team. This internship offers hands-on experience in a clinical setting, allowing you to apply your skills, gain valuable knowledge, and work closely with experienced medical professionals.

Responsibilities

• Assist with taking and recording vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, etc.)

• Prepare exam rooms before and after patient visits

• Assist with patient intake and documentation of medical history

• Help during basic procedures (e.g., drawing blood, administering injections, EKGs)

• Sanitize and sterilize medical instruments and equipment

• Educate patients on basic health maintenance and care instructions

• Escort patients to examination rooms and ensure comfort

• Shadow physicians, nurses, and certified medical assistants

• Learn about HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality

• Gain experience with medical terminology and workflow

• Attend team meetings or training sessions when applicable

• Answer phones and schedule appointments

• Manage patient files and electronic health records (EHRs)

• Verify insurance information and collect co-pays

• Assist with billing and coding for insurance claims

• Respond to patient inquiries and relay messages to healthcare providers

• Organize and manage front desk operations

Qualifications

-Currently enrolled in a Medical Assisting Education Program
-Be able to take and record vital signs, patient history, and other medical information. 
-Basic understanding of clinical procedures and medical terminology
-Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
-Ability to work 8-10 hours per week
