Description
This position will take place in a k-12 school located two blocks from Indiana University. Assistant Teacher Interns can work up to 29 hours a week with a set weekly schedule that will be organized to accommodate their class schedule and homework load.
Assistant Teacher Interns will always work alongside a Lead Teacher at Harmony, this allows room for on-the-job training and modeling of teaching techniques.
They will receive training from the Program supervisor prior to starting the position.
Assistant Teacher Interns will:
- Learn how to supervise children during play based activities
- Learn how to develop play based activities for children
- Learn how to be a contributing member of a teaching team
- Develop the ability to build meaningful relationships with children
Responsibilities
Assistant Teacher Interns can be assigned to work with children/youth ages 3-18 in any of the following programs/areas:
- Early Childhood Program (ECP) program assistants will support teachers in our play based program for children ages 3-6. They will primarily work with the children to encourage development of early math and reading interest and skills by learning through play and everyday interactions, and assist with conflict resolution. The hours for this position could be in between 9am - 5pm, 3-5 days per week depending on availability.
- Summer Camp Program assistants will support teachers during summer camp activities for children in 1st - 12th Grade. They will assist with summer camp snacks, playing games, supervising camp activities, and going on field trips. The hours for this positon could be in between 9am - 5pm, 3-5 days per week depending on availability.

- Must enjoy working with children both indoors and outdoors
- Reliable & punctual
- Good Communication Skills
- Be over the age of 18
