Responsibilities

Fort Wayne Metals has become a world-class manufacturer due in large part to our spirit of innovation. It’s about refining and improving products and processes that ultimately make lives better around the world. As an Engineering Corporate intern, you’ll play a key part in this mission.

You’ll have the opportunity to work in departments like Quality Engineering, Safety Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Materials Engineering, and Research and Development Engineering. To start, your degree should be in Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Safety Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or Technology, and you should be interested in pursuing a regulatory/materials/research and development Engineering career.

If you think you might like working in a regulatory environment, managing compliance, documentation, and conducting research, this is an ideal internship for you.

Because a majority of our work is in the medical field, regulations and compliance are the name of the game. As an Engineering Corporate intern, you will be responsible for adhering to customer requirements, regulatory requirements, and Fort Wayne Metals documented processes. Because variety is the spice of life, you’ll get the opportunity to work in a number of departments researching, documenting, and training on standardization of processes, machines, and products. What’s really rewarding about this internship, from start to finish, you will research, analyze findings, conduct trials, test materials, and make recommendations on materials, machines, processes, and products. An eye for detail will help, as you record findings and document changes to processes and products to ensure compliance with regulations and customer requirements.

Qualifications

What tools do you need to succeed in this role? You have to like working with lots and lots data, from interpreting it, to documenting it. Strong communication skills are a must, along with an analytical mind to troubleshoot and problem solve. You will do well if you like to manage projects, are a self-starter, can work independently as well as in a group setting, and are results-driven. Possessing mechanical skills and an understanding of Microsoft Office Suite are also important.
