Description

Our school corporation has an employee daycare. It is a nurturing early childhood education center committed to supporting the developmental needs of infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children. We prioritize a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment where children can grow socially, emotionally, physically, and cognitively. Our curriculum emphasizes play-based learning, guided exploration, and age-appropriate skill development.

The internship program at our daycare is designed for students interested in early childhood education, child development, or related fields. Interns will gain hands-on experience working directly with young children, supporting daily routines, classroom activities, and individualized learning plans. They will assist lead teachers and support staff in implementing curriculum, observing child behavior, and fostering positive interactions.

Responsibilities

Supervision, Training, and Mentorship:

Interns will be supervised by a certified early childhood educator or experienced lead teacher who will provide ongoing guidance and support. Training includes an orientation on daycare policies, child safety protocols, developmental milestones, and positive behavior strategies. Interns will receive regular feedback through informal check-ins and scheduled evaluations.

Mentorship will be offered by both the lead teacher and the program director, who will help interns reflect on their experiences, set professional goals, and explore best practices in early childhood education.

Learning Goals:

  1. Understand and apply developmentally appropriate practices in early childhood settings.

  2. Develop effective communication skills with children, families, and team members.

  3. Learn to support and guide children's learning through structured and unstructured activities.

  4. Gain confidence in classroom management, observation, and documentation.

  5. Build foundational knowledge of child development theories and how they apply to daily interactions and lesson planning.

This internship offers a supportive and enriching environment where students can grow professionally while making a positive impact in the lives of young children.

Qualifications

The intern has to be the ECE Capstone for the second year.
