Non-Profit Startup Development & Marketing Intern
Description
As Co-Founder of High School Hustle, I’m proud to lead an organization that empowers Indiana high school students to build profitable, fast-starting side hustles with real-world impact. Our mission is to inspire a generation of entrepreneurs by providing mentorship from seasoned business leaders, startup funding up to $500 per student, and access to a proven 10-step playbook that simplifies the path from idea to income. In Summer 2025, we’re awarding $100,000—split among ten standout student hustlers—to help turn their early ventures into success stories. By 2034, our goal is to launch one million student hustles nationwide.
Our internship program is built to reflect the entrepreneurial mindset we teach. Interns at High School Hustle are not spectators—they’re builders. They work directly with me and our small, agile team to help shape the program from the inside out. We offer immersive training rooted in first principles thinking, problem inversion, and strategic prioritization frameworks like the Eisenhower Matrix and 1-3-1 planning. Interns attend weekly team huddles, shadow mentor calls, help refine student playbooks, and execute outreach and marketing strategies that directly influence the success of the program.
Mentorship comes not only from our team, but also from our network of business mentors and visiting entrepreneurs—leaders we call “Business Titans”—who provide valuable insights and challenge our interns to think critically, ask better questions, and move fast with confidence. Through this experience, interns will learn how to define and solve problems independently, communicate with clarity and purpose, prioritize for impact, and, most importantly, adopt a growth mindset. They will leave with sharpened entrepreneurial instincts, a portfolio of tangible projects, and a new level of confidence in their ability to create and lead in the real world.
Responsibilities
As a Fall 2025 intern at High School Hustle, the student will help us scale our mission of empowering youth entrepreneurship in Indiana by taking on meaningful, project-based responsibilities that go well beyond standard administrative tasks. Rather than focusing on clerical work, the intern will be treated as a strategic contributor—working closely with leadership to support program growth, content development, and operational improvement.
Intern projects will center around program impact, growth strategy, and hustle optimization. For example, the intern may help improve and redesign key components of our 10-step hustle playbook—ensuring it remains clear, actionable, and effective for new student participants. They will also contribute to digital storytelling and marketing campaigns aimed at expanding our statewide reach, including designing email outreach, social media content, and application support materials for future cohorts. Additionally, they may assist with partnership development efforts by preparing pitch materials, researching aligned organizations, and supporting communications with prospective business mentors and donors.
Throughout the internship, the student will receive weekly mentorship from myself and other entrepreneurial advisors, participate in planning sessions that build strategic thinking, and reflect on key lessons through a growth-oriented lens. By the end of the term, they will have built real-world skills in leadership, communication, and business development—and contributed meaningfully to the future of youth entrepreneurship in Indiana.
Qualifications
At High School Hustle, we recognize that internships are often a student’s first step into the world of business and entrepreneurship—so no prior experience is required. We intentionally design our internship to be accessible, hands-on, and growth-oriented, with a strong emphasis on learning by doing.
Interns will not be expected to have management or industry experience. Instead, we look for curiosity, initiative, and a willingness to think critically and solve problems. All necessary tools, frameworks, and guidance will be provided through one-on-one mentorship, weekly team check-ins, and structured onboarding sessions. Interns will receive support in understanding how to approach tasks strategically, prioritize effectively using tools like Eisenhower’s Matrix, and communicate professionally within a startup environment.
This internship is designed to teach—not test—students in core areas like entrepreneurship, communication, and project ownership. Whether an intern has never worked on a business project before or is simply exploring their interests, we will meet them where they are and provide a clear, supportive path forward.
