Description
Midwest Mole, Inc., a leader in underground construction, is proud to partner with local high schools to offer a Work-Based Learning (WBL) Internship Program designed to introduce students to careers in construction and engineering. This paid internship provides high school students with hands-on experience in our Greenfield shop, fabrication area, and equipment yard, while preparing them for potential future opportunities in the construction industry.
Responsibilities
- Participate in hands-on training in the shop, fabrication area, and yard
- Learn and assist with various welding techniques (training provided)
- Support mechanics and fabricators on live projects
- Gain exposure to equipment maintenance, tool management, and construction prep
- Assist with general tasks in the yard and shop as directed by management
- Follow safety procedures at all times; PPE and training provided
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support team needs
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled high school student with an interest in construction, engineering, or skilled trades
- Mechanically inclined and eager to learn new skills
- Strong work ethic: punctual, dependable, and proactive
- Preferred: Exposure to welding or automotive repair (not required – training provided)
- Willingness to do both skilled and basic shop tasks
- Strong communication skills; able to interact respectfully with team members
- Attention to detail and a commitment to workplace safety
