Description

Our Early Childhood Internship Program offers a hands-on, immersive experience for students completing their Capstone in Early Learning. Interns are placed in our Early Learning (6 weeks–5 years), Preschool (3–5 years), and Kindergarten classrooms, where they actively participate in planning and delivering engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons. They gain valuable experience observing and documenting child development, practicing effective classroom management strategies, and collaborating with teachers, families, and support staff to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment. Interns also engage in weekly professional reflections and receive ongoing feedback to support their growth as future educators. This internship equips students with the confidence, skills, and real-world experience needed to succeed in the field of early childhood education.

Responsibilities

Our intern will engage in a range of tasks and projects that focus primarily on enhancing instructional practices and supporting child development, ensuring their experience is distinct from that of a standard employee. Under expert supervision, the intern will assist in designing and implementing interactive, curriculum-based lesson plans and learning activities tailored to the developmental needs of early learners. They will conduct developmental observations and document milestones, contribute to reflective discussions about effective teaching strategies, and collaborate in creative projects such as art integration, storytelling sessions, and hands-on explorations of STEM concepts. While they will support some logistical functions—such as coordinating materials for projects or assisting with the setup of learning environments—these administrative tasks will account for less than 25% of their responsibilities, ensuring that their primary focus remains on the educational and developmental enrichment of the classroom environment.

Qualifications

Our intern will focus on hands-on learning experiences designed to build foundational skills in early childhood education—no prior management or extensive experience is required. Interns will assist lead teachers in creating and delivering developmentally appropriate lessons, engaging children in small-group and one-on-one activities, and supporting daily routines such as circle time, transitions, and play-based learning. They will gain experience observing and documenting child development, learning how to adapt activities for different age groups, and participating in collaborative planning sessions. While some light administrative tasks may be included (no more than 25%), the internship is primarily focused on learning through guided practice, reflection, and mentorship—offering interns a supportive environment to grow in their first professional role in the field.
