Description

As a Technology Intern at Winchester Community High School, you will gain hands-on experience supporting IT services across the entire Randolph Central School Corporation. You will work with and report directly to the district technology team. This internship is ideal for students exploring careers in information technology, computer science, or systems support.

Essential Functions of the Role:

  • Provide technology support to all Randolph Central schools and departments, including elementary schools, the Central Office, the Fieldhouse, and the bus barn.

  • Assist with tasks such as Chromebook repair, hardware troubleshooting, Cleartouch panel support, and general tech ticket resolution.

  • Participate in special technology projects, including system rollouts, equipment setup, and district-wide tech initiatives.

Responsibilities


1. Device Repair & Troubleshooting

Competencies: Critical Thinking/Problem Solving, Digital Technology

  • Diagnose and repair basic issues with student/staff Chromebooks, including screen, keyboard, and battery replacements.

  • Assist with resolving Cleartouch panel issues, projector connectivity, and other classroom tech problems.

  • Learn to document tech support tickets and report common issues to help improve system reliability.


2. On-Site Technical Support

Competencies: Teamwork/Collaboration, Oral/Written Communication

  • Travel to various school sites and respond to tech support requests under the guidance of the tech team.

  • Communicate clearly with building staff to gather information, explain solutions, and ensure problems are resolved effectively.

  • Maintain professional interactions and a service-oriented attitude while working in instructional settings.


3. Technology Systems Maintenance

Competencies: Digital Technology, Professionalism/Work Ethic

  • Assist with updating inventory records, preparing devices for new users, and supporting software installations as needed.

  • Help maintain tech storage areas, organize spare parts and tools, and track project progress.

  • Follow all district guidelines for managing technology, data privacy, and secure systems access.


4. Special Projects & Rollouts

Competencies: Leadership, Teamwork/Collaboration, Critical Thinking

  • Participate in larger-scale tech initiatives such as device deployment, new classroom technology setup, or infrastructure upgrades.

  • Work collaboratively with the tech team to carry out these projects on time and with attention to quality and accuracy.

  • Provide feedback on project efficiency and offecomplete these projects on time,r suggestions for future improvements.


5. Reflection & Skill Development

Competencies: Oral/Written Communication, Professionalism/Work Ethic

  • Maintain a simple digital or written log of tasks completed, lessons learned, and troubleshooting steps taken.

  • Participate in regular check-ins with your mentor to set goals, reflect on your experience, and receive feedback.

  • Identify areas of interest within IT and set growth goals for the duration of the internship.


Notes for Compliance

  • Intern duties are educational in nature and focused on skill-building under mentorship.

  • Administrative or clerical tasks (e.g., filing, basic documentation) will be limited and not exceed 25% of total responsibilities.

  • This internship provides meaningful, real-world experience in school-based technology systems, preparing students for future success in IT and digital support fields.
