An early childhood internship at Bev's Kindergarten Prep and Child Care offers a comprehensive and enriching experience for aspiring early childhood educators. Under the supervision of Lynn Cross, interns will gain hands-on experience and valuable insights into early childhood education.
The internship includes training in several key areas:
- Early Childhood Training: Interns will learn about child development, effective teaching strategies, and classroom management techniques.
- Abuse and Neglect: This module focuses on recognizing signs of abuse and neglect, understanding mandatory reporting laws, and ensuring the safety and well-being of children.
- Four Modules in Early Childhood: These modules cover various aspects of early childhood education, providing a well-rounded foundation for interns.
- Foundations to the Indiana Academic Standards: Interns will become familiar with the Indiana Academic Standards and learn how to align their teaching practices with these guidelines.
- CPR and First Aid: Training in CPR and First Aid ensures that interns are prepared to handle emergencies and provide immediate care when needed.
- Universal Precautions: This training emphasizes the importance of hygiene and safety practices to prevent the spread of infections and illnesses.
The learning goals for the intern include:
- Developing a deep understanding of child development and early childhood education principles.

Responsibilities
During the internship at Bev's Kindergarten Prep and Child Care, interns will engage in a variety of tasks and projects that are designed to provide them with a unique learning experience, distinct from the responsibilities of standard employees. Here are some of the key tasks and projects that interns will work on:
- Lesson Planning and Implementation: Interns will assist the classroom teacher with lesson plans under the guidance of Lynn Cross. This will allow them to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical setting and gain confidence in their teaching abilities.
- Classroom Management Projects: Interns will work on projects related to classroom management, such as setting up learning centers, organizing classroom materials, and creating a positive learning environment.
- Professional Development Workshops: Interns will participate in workshops and training sessions on topics such as early childhood education, best practices, abuse and neglect prevention, and universal precautions. These sessions will enhance their knowledge and skills in the field.
- Special Events and Activities: Interns will help with special events and activities, such as holiday celebrations, field trips, and family engagement events. This will provide them with experience in event planning and coordination.
- Collaborative Projects: Interns will work on collaborative projects with other staff members, such as creating resources for the classroom. This will help them build teamwork and collaboration skills.

Qualifications
Interns at Bev's Kindergarten Prep and Child Care are not required to have management or extensive experience; the emphasis is on learning and growth. General skills beneficial for this role include patience, effective communication, adaptability, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
