Description

Truly Teas is a small-batch, organic tea company based in Lowell, Indiana, specializing in hand-blended loose-leaf teas, wholesale partnerships, and a future retail storefront with a modern apothecary aesthetic. We are passionate about creating high-quality products, supporting local communities, and offering unique customer experiences through both in-store and online sales. Our dynamic small-business environment provides interns with hands-on exposure to all aspects of a growing specialty food and beverage company.

The Truly Teas internship program is designed to provide meaningful, real-world experience in small-business operations, production, inventory management, marketing, and customer engagement. Interns will have the opportunity to contribute to daily production activities, assist with product packaging, support inventory tracking, and gain insight into brand development and retail operations.

Responsibilities

Intern Projects and Responsibilities:
The Truly Teas internship is designed to provide a well-rounded, educational experience that goes beyond day-to-day administrative tasks. While interns may assist with some routine activities to gain exposure to business operations, the majority of their time will be spent on meaningful projects that build transferable skills.

Interns will:

  • Assist in Product Development: Participate in creating and refining tea blends, conducting taste tests, and helping develop seasonal or specialty products.

  • Support Small-Business Operations: Learn about supply chain and inventory systems by tracking stock levels, forecasting needs, and optimizing packaging workflows.

  • Contribute to Marketing & Branding Projects: Assist with content creation, social media strategy, photography, and packaging design to gain hands-on experience in brand development.

  • Event & Workshop Preparation: Help plan and execute in-store and community events, learning how to create engaging customer experiences.

  • Customer Engagement & Retail Insights: Shadow retail operations, assist in merchandising, and help analyze customer feedback to support business growth.

  • Entrepreneurial Training: Gain behind-the-scenes insight into running a specialty food and beverage business, including pricing strategy, vendor relations, and product positioning.

Administrative tasks (filing, mailing, scheduling, etc.) will be minimal and make up less than 25% of the role. The goal is to provide interns with hands-on learning opportunities, empowering them to take ownership of small projects and explore multiple aspects of entrepreneurship, product development, and business management in a supportive, small-business environment.

Qualifications

Intern Qualifications:
The Truly Teas internship is designed for students or early-career individuals seeking their first hands-on experience in entrepreneurship, small business operations, or the specialty food and beverage industry. Interns are not expected to have prior management experience or extensive work history; instead, we are looking for individuals with:

  • A strong interest in learning about small-business operations, retail, marketing, or food production

  • Reliability, punctuality, and a positive attitude

  • Attention to detail and willingness to follow instructions

  • Comfort with light physical activity, such as standing for extended periods and lifting up to 40–50 lbs

  • Basic organizational and communication skills

  • Openness to feedback and eagerness to learn in a fast-paced, hands-on environment

No prior industry experience is required; training will be provided. This internship is an opportunity to build foundational skills and gain confidence while contributing to a growing small business.
