Organization & Internship Program Description
Cain’s Creative Chaos is a community-centered makerspace and art therapy hub dedicated to fostering creativity, healing, and connection through the arts. We host workshops, community events, and collaborative projects that provide opportunities for both self-expression and professional growth in the creative sector.
Our internship program is designed to give students and emerging professionals hands-on experience in arts administration, event planning, and community engagement. Interns will be involved in day-to-day operations, marketing, workshop support, and project development, while also having the freedom to explore their own creative ideas within the space.
Supervision, Training, and Mentorship
Interns will be directly supervised and mentored by Melissa Cain, Founder and Creative Director of Cain’s Creative Chaos. Melissa provides one-on-one guidance in areas such as:
-
Event planning and facilitation
-
Arts-based community programming
-
Marketing and communications (including social media and newsletters)
-
Admin Support
Training will be both structured (orientation, task-specific instruction, shadowing) and experiential (hands-on practice, independent projects with feedback). Interns will also have opportunities to connect with local artists, workshop leaders, and community partners.
Learning Goals for Interns
By the end of the internship, participants will be able to:
-
Gain practical experience in managing and promoting arts and community events.
-
Develop skills in marketing, outreach, and community engagement.
-
Understand the operations of a creative makerspace and nonprofit arts organization.
-
Strengthen leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
-
Build a portfolio of creative and professional work to support future career goals.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities
Interns at Cain’s Creative Chaos will gain meaningful, hands-on experience supporting the growth of a creative community space while building professional skills. Responsibilities are designed to be project-based, collaborative, and educational, rather than routine administrative work.
Examples of intern responsibilities include:
