Description

The New Harmony Project is a national arts organization whose mission is to nurture writers in the development of scripts and new works that interrogate the complexity of hope. Through artist-centered programming, we care for writers so they can change the world.

The New Harmony Project is uniquely positioned as the only Indiana-based new works development organization with a proven track record of impacting both the local and national cultural landscape. Since 1986, NHP has distinguished itself as one of the country’s top places to develop plays, screenplays and other original works. We offer writers a creative and transformative community where they can work, receive support from dramaturgs and experienced wellness providers, and build the relationships that will bolster their creative journeys. The New Harmony Project’s flagship program is its annual Writers’ Residency, held in pastoral New Harmony, Indiana. NHP’s writers carry unique perspectives on the ways that hope manifests itself in their work. Each September The New Harmony Project produces PlayFest Indy, a week-long celebration of new plays. We partner with Indianapolis producing theatre companies to bring to life concert-style readings of plays written by some of the most innovative voices in the theatre today.

The New Harmony Project is currently seeking a Marketing and Communications Intern, who will be integral to the day-to-day management of NHP’s Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and Linkedin pages. Responsibilities include: creating social media content across all platforms that explore artistic process, celebrate the history and impact of the organization and highlight artists and programming. The intern will be supervised by the Executive Artistic Director, and will learn a great deal about the business of creating new theatre and supporting artists in that process.

Learning goals:

  • Develop a deep understanding of digital marketing and social media strategy as applied to the arts.

  • Work collaboratively with the Artistic Producer to design and execute social media campaigns that promote PlayFest Indy and the Annual Writers Residency, while gaining insight into the organizational goals behind these efforts.

  • Enhance communication and storytelling skills by crafting social media posts that highlight the experiences of PlayFest Indy artists and events, as well as the Annual Wrtiters' Residency.
