Description

MIdwest Language Services, LLC is an established language services provider in the Midwest based in Indiana. Our company started in 2004 first as a sole proprietorship and then as an LLC in 2006. We help companies, non-profits, and educational institutions save time and money by providing written translations and interpreting support as needed.

Our projects include, but are not limited to translating employee handbooks, flyers, and museum signage. We also provide onsite interpreters, video remote interpreters, and over-the-phone interpreters for a variety of assignments for international delegations, meetings, and parent-teacher meetings in educational settings.

This internship is a part-time position that could lead to employment beyond the term of the internship. The intern will receive training and supervision from the owner of the company as well as department heads. Training will include learning more about the type of clients we are wanting to do business with, researching opportunities to find potential clients, and contacting current and potential clients about our services to help facilitate intercultural communication.

Midwest Language Services, LLC is open to ideas of our intern on how to best connect with potential clients and may design an internship that utilizes the skill set of the intern.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:

Thinking about how to best serve the clients and make their experience excellent in every way, from the time they make first contact with our company to the end of each assignment or project and even after.

Contacting existing clients by phone and email to ask for feedback and input about how we can improve our services.

Contacting potential clients to learn about their existing language needs, their current solutions, and how their solutions could be improved upon. Ask the potential client if they would be interested in trying our services.

Creating scripts for email and cold-call outreach - not just using AI, but integrating common sense about how to improve AI input and testing the approaches to see what works, documenting processes, and revising processes as needed.

Identifying live, onsite/in-person events and online events in which Midwest Language Services, LLC should actively participate in central Indiana and in other cities throughout Indiana.

Attending online and onsite/in-person events, including being the public-facing representative of our company and presenting themselves professionally through verbal and non-verbal communication.

Making presentations online and in-person about our services.

Arriving early at all onsite and online events.

Staying at each event until the official end unless otherwise permitted by your supervisor.

Ask questions when more clarification is needed.

If a mistake is made, admit it as quickly as possible and fix it.

Think independently. If you are not sure what to do, think of potential solutions and present those to your supervisor.

Do your best at all times. Ask for feedback if you are not sure how you are doing or need more training.

Make presentations online and onsite to potential clients.

Qualifications

Interns should have impeccable written English skills as well as fluent spoken English skills.

Think like an owner and think like a customer. Anticipate the professional needs of both.

Time management, word processing, professional email writing, phone etiquette, and the ability to comfortably speak to people of all backgrounds are key.
