2026 Summer Camp Group Leader
Description
The Group Leader plays a vital role in the success of The STEM Connection (TSC) by providing
group management support for day campers attending TSC summer camps, as well as
offering support to camp staff, and contributing to the organization’s efforts to deliver
high-quality programming. This is a full-time seasonal (summer) position, approximately late
May through early-mid August.
TSC is a non-profit organization that engages youth in STEM principles through accessible,
nature-related experiences with a commitment to those who are underrepresented in
STEM careers. TSC offers experiential STEM programming for youth both in person and
virtually, fueling dreams and inspiring futures in STEM. In collaboration with community
partners, we deliver award-winning, relevant services that empower and impact youth for
today and tomorrow. TSC is committed to being a diverse, equitable, inclusive, and
accessible organization.
Responsibilities
- Manage campers during summer camps, field trips, and other occasional programs
- Organize, collect, prepare, and manage materials for programming
- Participate in collection of program data
- Participate in wildlife and habitat conservation and sustainability practices aligned with
TSC’s core values (We take care of ourselves, others, and our earth.)
- Assist with garden, farm, and learning space maintenance in preparation for, for use
during, and at the conclusion of program events and program seasons
- Contribute to the overall success of TSC’s mission and vision by performing other
duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Ability to complete tasks in a professional, effective, and efficient manner
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work as part of a team and also independently
- Driven, patient, and hard-working
- Coachable, flexible, and proactive in anticipating needs and solving problem
- Desire to move the mission and vision of TSC forward
- Ability to work full-time (Monday-Friday, 8:30 am-4:30 pm), the end of May through
the middle of August 2026 (off July 5-July 10)
- Experience working with youth a plus
- Successful completion of a background check and TSC onboarding and required training (CPR, Safeguarding Youth, and other role-specific training)
