Description
Our office has 5 full-time educator positions and four full-time office staff. We deliver research-based education to the Elkhart County community in the areas of Agriculture and Natural Resources, 4-H Youth Development, Health and Human Sciences, and Economic and Community Development.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibility would be to assist the Extension Educators in program delivery in three program areas: 4-H Youth Development, Ag and Natural Resources and Health and Human Sciences.
Duties would include:
- Develop STEM-focused program or other subject area interest program for volunteers to teach 4-H Youth participants.
- Program delivery and Development with the Extension Educators including: Summer Lunch Bunch, Mini 4-H Day Camp, Animal Science Day Camp, and general educational programming.
- Assist with pre-fair 4-H program preparation: Data entry, 4-H judging, and the set up and tear down of displays at the fair.
- Create marketing and social media content for Purdue Extension Elkhart County.
- Assist with post fair 4-H activities, including record keeping, and inventories.
- Assist with 4-H Livestock auction.
- Assist with general office duties including news releases, copying, correspondence, filing, assisting other office staff with mailing, copying and other general office duties.
- Work with 4-H leaders as needed to help them with their respective duties.
Other duties may be assigned by the County Extension Director or Office Coordinator as needed.
Qualifications
- Candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent, and be a full-time college student qualified for EARN Indiana funding.
- Candidates with some knowledge of 4-H and or the Extension Service is preferred.
- Candidate must be able to communicate well, be highly organized, detail oriented, able to accept direction from others, and enjoy working with diverse groups of people.
- Computer skills with Microsoft Office software strongly preferred.
