After School Program Intern
Description
This position will take place in a k-12 school located two blocks from Indiana University. Interns can work up to 20 hours a week with a set weekly schedule that will be organized to accommodate their class schedule and homework load.
The After School Program Intern will always work alongside a Lead Teacher at Harmony, this allows room for on-the-job training and modeling of teaching techniques. They will receive training from the After School Program supervisor prior to starting the position.
After School Program Interns will be assigned to work with children Kindergarten - 4th Grade in the After School Program and will support the After School Lead teacher during after school activities, snacks preparation, playing games, clean-up, tutoring duties as needed. The hours are after school 3pm – 5:30/6pm, 1-4 days per week depending on availability.
Responsibilities
After School Program Interns will:
- Learn how to supervise children during activities
- Learn how to develop activities for children
- Learn how to be a contributing member of a teaching team
- Develop the ability to build meaningful relationships with children
Qualifications
- Interest in or Experience Working with Children
- Must enjoy working with children both indoors and outdoors
- Reliable & punctual
- Good Communication Skills
- Be over the age of 18
