Description

The Purdue Extension Summer Intern will work in three content areas: 4-H Youth Development, Agriculture and Natural Resources, and Health and Human Services.  The intern will field client questions in person, by phone, by email, and social media messaging.  They will work with the office manager and Purdue Extension educators to facilitate programming. Ideal interns will be willing to learn on the go and work as a team. 

Responsibilities

The intern will be responsible for program planning and function within the three content areas:

They will assist with the 4-H Youth Development educator with fair activities such as pre-judging and judging tasks including checking in projects and verifying entries are correct. 

They will assist with daily fair activities and other duties as assigned.

In addition they will be assiged other tasks within the ANR and HHS program areas. Applicants should be comfortable working with the public, be organized and resourceful. 

Applicants may be required to utilize their personal vehicle (with mileage reimbursed) for collecting supplies or other errands. 

They should be familiar or willing to learn the 4HOnline and FairEntry platforms for 4-H Youth Development and should have basic social media skills to manage the office Facebook and Instagram accounts for all content areas.

Qualifications

Applicants will be required to fill out an official application with the Owen County Government, as this position is considered a government employee seasonal position. All applicants will be required to pass a background check as well as a drug screening (urinalysis) prior to employment. All applicants must have completed the FASFA the previous year and currently be enrolled in an Indiana college or university.
