Description
Seeds Early Learning is a licensed early childhood education program serving infants through school aged children. We are currently beginning to implement a Montessori-inspired curriculum to strengthen our focus on child-led learning, independence, and developmentally appropriate practice. Our internship program provides hands-on experience in a classroom setting while introducing interns to both foundational early childhood education practices and Montessori-aligned principles. Interns are treated as active members of the educational team and supported in building practical skills and professional confidence.
Interns receive direct supervision and mentorship from the Program Director and classroom Lead Teachers through daily guidance, regular feedback, and reflective check-ins. Training includes orientation to Indiana licensing and Paths to QUALITY standards, classroom management, child development observation, and an introduction to Montessori philosophy and materials. Learning goals focus on understanding Montessori-aligned practices, developing effective classroom and communication skills, supporting a prepared learning environment, and gaining insight into the professional and regulatory responsibilities of early childhood educators.
Responsibilities
Key tasks will include observing and documenting child development, assisting with the preparation and maintenance of a Montessori-aligned classroom environment, and supporting small-group and individual learning activities under supervision. The intern will also engage in guided observation of Montessori materials and teaching strategies, helping to set up lessons, rotate materials, and reflect on how children interact with the prepared environment.
Qualifications
Interns should be able and willing to meet the Indiana licensing and Paths to Quality requirements: CPR, First Aid/Universal Precautions, Safe Sleep 1&2, Physical and drug screening, background check, required educational trainings which are all paid by Seeds Early Learning.
