Description
The Center for Career Connections Office works with Grace College students, alumni, recruiters, faculty, businesses, and the general public. The Career Assistant Intern plays a key role in supporting daily office operations while promoting a professional, welcoming, and service-oriented environment. It is an experiential learning opportunity that integrates hands-on administrative support with exposure to career development practices and internship management. By the end of the internship, the intern will have enhanced their ability to work independently, use office technologies effectively, and apply career readiness skills in a professional higher education setting.
Responsibilities
- Serve as receptionist: greeting/assisting students, email correspondence, inter-office correspondence, and making appointments
- Provide office support for full-time staff: typing, filing, copying
- Maintain office supply inventory and re-order supplies when needed
- Support students in developing professional application materials by reviewing résumés and cover letters for grammar, clarity, formatting, and content effectiveness
- Assist with the planning, coordination, and execution of professional development events, career workshops, and employer recruiting activities
- Conduct research to support career-related courses, including identifying relevant resources and opportunities across professional networking platforms
- Promote departmental events, career resources, and employment tips through targeted social media content and outreach
- Review and process employer approvals in Handshake to ensure accurate and timely access to recruiting opportunities for students
- Identify, update, and distribute job and internship listings relevant to students
Qualifications
Ability to work independently
Experience with event planning and coordination
Microsoft Word experience
Microsoft Excel experience
Google Calendar experience
Google Doc experience
Able to type 50 words per minute
Prior job experience working in an office environment
Experience with Survey Monkey
Skilled with: Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram – to create social media posts for jobs and events
