Description
Brooks Construction Company, Inc. is seeking motivated high school students to join our team as Summer High School Interns. This internship provides a unique opportunity to learn the ins and outs of the Heavy Highway, Civil, and Horizontal construction industry through a hands-on learning approach. Each internship is customized to align with the student’s interests, field of study, and relevant experience. Interns are paired with a company mentor for guidance and support, gaining valuable real-world exposure across multiple divisions of an industry-leading construction company.
Responsibilities
- Participates in on-site field operations and learn various aspects of heavy highway and civil construction
- Maintains acceptable attendance and punctuality, following the work schedule and notifying supervisors of any absences in advance
- Follows all safety rules and compliance requirements, including using proper protective equipment and reporting hazards
- Supports team members with routine project tasks under supervision
- Communicates clearly and respectfully with supervisors and coworkers
- Demonstrates professionalism, including appropriate workplace behavior, attire, and etiquette
- Follows instructions and completes assigned tasks accurately and on time
- Asks questions and seek clarification when unsure of how to complete a task
- Shows willingness to learn, accepts feedback, and develops new skills
- Uses company equipment and materials responsibly, adhering to guidelines
- Participates in meetings or training sessions as required
- Observes and learns workplace processes relevant to the career field
